Exercise Design and Evaluation

Practice makes…well, practice ensures that staff will be better prepared to implement plan strategies, should the need arise.

Global ER’s training and exercise team will work with your leadership to develop effective scenarios that will challenge your staff or volunteers to perform as they must in an emergency.

There are several important ingredients to a successful exercise:
• start with clear, relevant, reasonable and measurable objectives.
• choose the scenario While a complex scenario may seem engaging and challenging for the participants, this may divert focus from the core objectives of your exercise. We’ll work with you to design a [scenario] that tests precisely what you need to [evaluate]. It may be better to design two exercises that focus on different areas or concurrent exercises that intersect. Many different types of exercises can be use and we’ll help you decide what is best.

Equally as important, we will closely evaluate the performance of the players at every critical juncture. When the exercise is completed, we’ll facilitate a dynamic “hotwash” where players, observers, planners and leadership can discuss what went right, what went wrong and what can be done to enhance planning and preparedness.

Whether it is a table top exercise or a full-scale [exercise], we’ll ensure that the experience proves a positive, engaging experience.
